- What is the first visit like?
- The first visit is 60 minutes in length and during that time we will go over your paperwork and inquire about your health history, your goals for our time together as well as your overall goals in life, and we will flesh out a strategy to go forward.
- What Conditions do you treat?
- Since my licenses in WA state and CA state are not recognized in the state of Virginia, I cannot diagnose and treat conditions. What I do instead is look at your concerns, then at your whole-self and help make adjustments that will ultimately effect your overall health. What does this look like? Support and Prevention. Support for insomnia, anxiety, depression, digestive concerns, concentration and energy issues, fertility, autoimmune and thyroid conditions, joint pains, healthy aging. Prevention for colds and flus, joint damage, osteoporosis, burn-out, fatigue, and so on. As we support the body, often times the pain and problems begin to fade because we allow our bodies to slowly but lastingly heal themselves.
- Are you a medical doctor?
- No. As a disclaimer, please note that Dr. Brian Keenan is not a medical doctor. He is a naturopathic doctor. This is a separate and distinct profession. He was trained and graduated from a four-year residential graduate program with the degree: Naturopathic Doctor. He is currently licensed in the states of Washington (WA) and California (CA) and will soon have his licensed transferred to D.C. and Maryland. That said, the Commonwealth of Virginia does not currently offer licensing or reciprocity for naturopathic doctors. Efforts with the Virginia Association of Naturopathic Physicians to change this for our state are underway. Until then, Dr. Brian works strictly within the confines of being a consultant.
- What is your email policy?
- Because this clinic abides by the privacy laws of HIPPA, please be advised that we cannot discuss health matters via email. Simple questions for clarification, to schedule appointments, or any other general inquiries are welcome. We are actively in the process of getting a HIPPA compliant email server so you can email specific questions.
- I'm not near you, do you do phone appointments?
- We sure do. While in person visits are helpful in building rapport, we understand that given the services we provide, much of it can be done through talking over the phone or online. Because of the nature of individualized care that tends to be recommended here, we will usually have to mail you any herbal formulas that we custom blend for you since it is unlikely you will be able to find the teas or tinctures we provide out in commerce.
