Hello and Happy New Year! Also, welcome to Magnolia Natural Medicine.
I wanted to write a quick blog article just to introduce myself and what we do here at MNM. My name is Dr. Brian and I am a graduate of Bastyr University with two degrees: a Bachelors of Science in Herbal Sciences which was a bachelors dedicated solely to the research of plants from morphologic, commercial, medicinal, and ecologic standpoints. This is where I fell in love with plants, the stories of them, the rigorous science you can apply to learn more about them and bring their historical uses into modern applications, and lastly that is when I began teaching medicine making classes. My second degree is that of Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine which entailed 5 years of rigorous study and clinical training in combining conventional western medicine with the principles of holistic healing and the naturopathic therapeutic order. This is where I studied the human body, pathology, clinical diagnosis and the applications of a plethora of holistic healing modalities including counseling, nutrition, physical medicine (spinal manipulations, massage, cold laser therapy, therapeutic ultrasound), the employment of nutraceuticals, and of course, the use of botanical medicine. Here in Virginia, as is mentioned in other places on the site, my license to practice medicine is not reciprocated by the state, so I can't order tests or run labs like I could in Washington. That said, there is so much that can be done to holistically optimize people's health, and the demand was there in Virginia, that I decided I would be okay working as an educator and empower people by helping explain what naturopathic medicine can do for them and provide natural remedies that can help support their health and well being. Additionally, I am working on getting my Acupuncture certification so I can provide acupuncture services as well to the community. So I hope this little introduction serves as another way to get to know me and get to know what you can expect from Magnolia Natural Medicine. I'm going to try to make a video as well and try that out. Stay tuned! -Sincerely, Dr. Brian. ND
